5/18 Concordia Stays Sharp, Finishes 2nd at
NCAA Tournament.
Concordia shook off two subpar performances in the opening rounds,
and stormed back to repeat as runner-up at the NCAA Division III tournament
held at Hickory Point GC in Decatur, Ill. Concordia fired a solid 312 in
the fourth and final round to overtake Rhodes and claim second place. Defending
champion Methodist shot a 301 to claim their fourth consecutive national
championship.
The Cobber team score of 1,264 sets a school record for the lowest team total in a national championship. It is the third time in school history the team has finished second at the national tournament.
The Cobbers were led by first year golfer Jill Conrad (Richland, WA) who shot a 75 in the final round to finish with a 313 which was good for a tie for 10th place. Jenni Kovash (Sr., Moorhead, MN) shot a final round 78 to finish in a tie for 13th at 315. Senior Maria Amlen (Stockholm, Sweden) finished her career by shooting a 79 to cap her 317 total, which was good for 17th place. MIAC medalist Liz Meschke (Fr., Pequot Lakes, Minn.) shot an 87 to finish at 333. She ended the tournament in a tie for 40th. Tanya Ulvin (So., Roseau, MN) rounded out the Cobber team by firing an 80 in the final round. She finished in 44th place with a final score of 336.

5/17 Concordia Sets School Record, Jumps to
3rd Place After Day 3.
Concordia pulled off a Tiger Woods-like performance, and shot a school
record 296 to jump all the way to third place in the third round of the
NCAA Tournament held at Hickory Point GC in Decatur, Ill..
The Cobbers entered the day in sixth place, 15 shots behind Rhodes College who was secure in second place. Concordia made up 14 strokes on Rhodes and passed Mary-Hardin Baylor, Franklin College and host Millikin University to set up a dual for a runner-up finish. Methodist continues to lead the championships, as they fired a 309 and lead Rhodes by 38 shots entering the final day of competition.
Concordia, only one shot behind Rhodes, had four of their five golfers shoot under 77. In championship competition only four golfers are used to compute the team score, so Concordia used all four sub-77 scores for today's team total. The 296 total shattered the old school record by 13 shots. The old mark, set last year at a dual meet with UND, was 309.
Jenni Kovash (Sr., Moorhead, MN) continues to improve each round, as she shot a season-low 72 to finish the third round tied for 11th, with a total of 237. She missed the school record for low round in a tournament by a single stroke. Her three-round score of 237 leads the Cobbers. Maria Amlen (Stockholm, Sweden) fired a 76 and is tied for 13th at 238. Teammate Jill Conrad (Richland, WA) shot a collegiate career low 74 and is also at 237. Liz Meschke, this year's medalist at the MIAC championships found her fall form and shot a 74. She moved up 11 spots on the leaderboard and is currently tied for 33rd. Tanya Ulvin (So., Roseau, MN) shot an 83 and has a three-day total of 256.

5/16 Concordia Shoots an Identical 328, Falls
to 6th Place After Day 2.
Concordia came back after an an adventuresome day one, and shot an
identical 328 in the second round of the NCAA tournament. The Cobbers fell
to sixth place at the halfway point and are only 15 strokes out of second
place and two shot out of fourth place. Division III juggernaut Methodist
continues to lead the tournament, as they fired a 305 and lead the tournament
by 37 strokes.
Jenni Kovash (Sr., Moorhead, MN) had the low round of the day for the Cobbers, as she rebounded from her 89 in the opening round to shoot a 76 in day two. She is currently tied for 30th. First year golfer Jill Conrad (Richland, WA) followed up her 80 with an 84 and is tied for 27th with a two-day total of 164. Senior Maria Amlen (Stockholm, Sweden) leads the Cobbers with a score of 162 (81-81), she is tied for 15th place. Liz Meschke (Fr., Pequot Lakes, MN) shot an 87 and is tied for 44th with a total of 172. Tanya Ulvin (So., Roseau, MN) finished with a 91 and has a two-day total of 173.
The NCAA tournament is a four-round total score championship and runs
through Friday.

After Day 1
The Cobber women's golf team shot a 328 (+40)
on the first day of the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament to earn
a tie for fourth place with Millikin University. They are just 5 strokes
out of third and 11 off of second place. Jill
Conrad (Fr., Richland, WA) led the way for the Cobbers, shooting an
80 (+8) to tie for 12th on the individual leaderboard. Maria
Amlen (Sr., Stockholm, Sweden) was right behind her at 81 (+9), followed
by Tanya Ulvin (So.,
Roseau, MN) with an 82 (+10). Rounding out the Cobbers team was Liz
Meschke (Fr., Pequot Lakes, MN) with an 85 (+13), and Jenni
Kovash (Sr., Moorhead, MN) with an 89 (+17).

5/07 Concordia Earns Sixth Straight NCAA Championship
Bid.
(Moorhead, MN)--The Concordia College women's golf team has been selected
to play in the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament. It is the sixth
straight year the team has received a bid to play in the NCAA tournament.
The tournament will be held May 15-18, at Hickory Point Golf Course, Decatur,
Ill., and hosted by Millikin University.
This past fall the Cobbers captured their sixth straight MIAC title, and ninth in the past ten years. The team returns three players from last year's runner-up finish at the Division III championships. Concordia won six out of the nine tournaments they entered this year, and are currently ranked third in the nation.
The championships will consist of both team and individual competition conducted concurrently. All participants will compete throughout the entire 72 holes of competition. In the team competition, the low four scores for each team will count in each day's total score. The number of participants allowed at the finals is 60. A team can consist of four players.
CHAMPIONSHIP SITES: The 2001 NCAA Division III Women's Golf
