2003-04 Women's Basketball D3hoops.com West All Region Teams

Mandy Pearson Named to the D3hoops.com West Region Second Team.

Mandy Pearson (Jr., Watkins, Minn./Eden Valley-Watkins HS) capped her outstanding season by being named to the D3hoops.com West Region Second Team. It is the first time in her career that she has received a regional honor. Pearson was one of only five players from the MIAC to earn All-Region honors.

Gustavus' Angie Peterson was named to the All-Region First Team, while Megan Vig of Carleton also garnered second team honors. Afton Hanson of Macalester and Selina Theisen from Augsburg were named to the All-Region Third Team.

Players were nominated for these awards by the Sports Information Directors at the various schools, who were contacted several times as the season wound down to make their players eligible. The ballot was then distributed to regional SIDs, who voted for 10 players.

Pearson was named the Most Valuable Player in the MIAC earlier in the month. She was also also voted to the MIAC All-Conference Team. It is the second consecutive season that she has been named to the all-conference team, and third year that she has been honored with conference postseason awards.

She helped lead the Cobbers to their best record since the 1990-91 season. The team finished with a 21-7 mark and made it all the way to the MIAC playoff championship game, a first in school history. Concordia also set a school record for biggest improvement in one season. The Cobbers improved a full seven games from the 2002-03 season.

Pearson finished the season by being ranked in the top 35 in the nation in three different statistical categories. She was eighth in assists per game (6.3), 29th in steals per game (3.5) and 32nd in free throw percentage (82.3%). She led the MIAC in assists (6.50 apg), was second in steals (3.73 spg) and 12th in overall scoring (13.7 ppg). She was also third in free throw percentage and fourth in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.21).
