Cobbers Capture First MIAC Title To Cap Best-Ever 12-4 Season, 8-2 in the MIACThe Cobber soccer team beat Bethel 5-0 on Oct. 25 here to secure a share of their first MIAC title, ending the year 12-4, 8-2 in the MIAC. St. Thomas (12-5-1) tied Concordia in the MIAC and, having beaten the Cobbers, gained the 4th NCAA Regional bid. The other three went to UC-San Diego (10-4-2), Chapman (15-3) and Colorado College (14-4)The Cobbers were led again this season by career scoring leader and MIAC MVP Peter Curry (112 points) and Brian Mahan (98 career points). Chad Anderson set a school record for shutouts (6). Despite the playoff disappointment, the entire team and coaching staff put together an outstanding season. |
