3/16 The Concordian, Schroeder
and team wrestle to finish
3/3 Zack Schroeder Participates at Nationals.
Concordia junior wrestler Zack Schroeder (Wahpeton, ND) participated at the NCAA Division III National Wrestling Meet. Schroeder received a bye in the first round in the 133 pound weight class before losing his second round match to Dan Flounders of the College of New Jersey 8-0. Flounders advanced to the championship match in the weight class. Schroeder dropped a close 7-4 decision in the quarterfinals of the consolation round to Dorian Cast of Olivet College. Schroeder is the first Cobbers to compete at the national meet since All-American Nathan Reiff placed seventh in 1999. 2/24 Concordia's Young Squad

MN) also received All-MIAC honors at 141.

Duals, preparations pay off for Cobbers
1/27 Concordia Wins Out on Saturday, Finishes Third at MIAC Duals.
Concordia won all three matches on Saturday to move their overall record in the MIAC Dual Meet to 3-2, and finish in third place. The Cobbers defeated St. Thomas 45-12, St. Olaf 35-18 and Carleton 47-9. This came after a hard fought Friday, when they dropped matches to perennial national champion, and MIAC Dual Meet winner, Augsburg and St. John's. The Cobbers were led by Zack Schroeder (Jr., Wahpeton, ND) who went 4-1 on the weekend at 133 pounds, and Rory Olson (Jr., Wadena, MN), at 174, who was also 4-1 and recorded three victories by pin. First year wrestler Pete Grossarth (Thompson Falls, MT) went 3-2 at 125, and Jared Sannes (Jr.,Crookston, MN) went 3-2 at 197, all three wins by pin. The third place finish at the MIAC Dual Meet is the highest finish since the 1995-96 season when they finished third. 1/09 Concordia Loses UM-Morris Dual 27-17. 1/06 Concordia Competes at North Country Invite. 12/09 Concordia Competes at St. Cloud State Invitational. 12/05 Concordia Falls to MSU-Moorhead 31-6.
Concordia started fast, winning the first match of the meet at 149, but then MSU-Moorhead took control and battled to a 31-6 victory. Cory Winter (Fr., Cannon Falls, MN) gave the Cobbers a 3-0 lead early, as he won by decision over Adam Toso 4-1. The Dragons then proceeded to win eight of the next nine matches and pull away for the win. The lone victory for Concordia in that stretch was put up by JakeWiese (So., Pelican Rapids, MN) at 184. Wiese decisioned Dave Roberts 10-8 in a tightly contested match. Wiese went on top early and then hung on for the two point margin of victory. The other highlight of the meet was the battle at 133 where MSU-Moorhead's Shawn Larson edged out Zack Schroeder (Wahpeton, ND). Concordia, with 13 wrestlers competing in the tournament, was led by Jesse Barnacle (Fr., Deer River, MN) who lost in the title match in the 157 division to Lance Wurm from NDSU. Concordia junior Zack Schroeder (Wahpeton, ND), battling an injury, advanced to the semifinals at 133 before losing in a physical match to Reese Boehm of NDSU. Schroeder fought through pain and eventually finished fourth. Cory Winter (Fr., Cannon Falls, MN) lost 5-3 in a tight fought quarterfinal match at 149 to eventual division champion Bo Henry of NDSU.
