The Cobber Women's Golf team won 4 fall tournaments, including their sixth MIAC Championship in the past seven years. All six Cobbers at the MIAC Championship Meet finished in the tourneyās top-ten and earned All-MIAC honors: Jill Carlin (ā98 Fosston ), Jenny Dick (ā98 Rochester), Kristen Hanson (Ī99 Fosston), Nicole Koskey (ā99 Princeton), Christie Strecker (Ī00 Albert Lea), and Kari Weidner (ā00 Fargo).

Christie Strecker (ā00, Albert Lea) was 6th at the MIAC, earned her second All-MIAC award, was named Academic All-MIAC and led Womenās Golf in scoring.
Jenny Dick (ā98, Rochester) finished 8th at the MIAC, was the second leading scorer on the team, earned her third All-MIAC award and was named Academic All-MIAC for a second time.
Jill Carlin (ā98, Fosston) finished second at the MIAC Womenās Golf Championship and earned her third All-MIAC award.
Juli Johanson (Ī00 Osakis) joined teammates Dick and Strecker in earning Academic All-MIAC honors.

The 1997 Cobber football team began the year with hopes that their experienced offense could hold the fort until an untested defense caught up. Instead, it was the defense that got the Cobbers off to a strong start and helped keep them in the hunt for an MIAC title share into the final week of the season.
Senior All-MIAC linebacker Ryan Sannes (Breckenridge) led a group of over-achieving defenders who gave up just 97 points during the regular season. All-MIAC defensive tackle Jeff Gronner (Underwood) and All-MIAC defensive end Jon Jasken (Moorhead) led a front four that applied great pressure all year on the outstanding crop of 1997 MIAC quarterbacks. And Sannes generally cleaned up the loose ends when runners got through that front four.
The Cobber offense also proved to be a pleasant surprise. They were expected to be good, with all five interior linemen back and returning quarterback Ethan Pole ('99 Moorhead) having last yearās Cobber MVP, Tory Langemo ('98 Litchfield) to throw to. But the Cobbers also established their traditional running game earlier than expected, led by senior halfback Dan Steinbeisser (Sidney, MT).
Steinbeisser earned All-MIAC second team honors and finished second in the MIAC rushing race with 686 yards, despite missing nearly three full games games with a knee injury.
Langemo earned first team All-MIAC honors for a third time while spending most of the year double teamed. He ended his career with 2,559 receiving yards on 165 catches. He also earned Academic All-MIAC honors for a second time.
And Pole, a junior, continued to mature as a top flight MIAC quarterback, earning second team All-MIAC honors by completing 52% of his passes for 1400 yards in nine MIAC contests.
Much of this offensive production was made possible by the leaders of that experienced offensive line, led by seniors Jed Seeger (Westbrook) 1st team All-MIAC) and Noah Caron (Bemidji) (2nd team, All-MIAC.) Seeger started in 42 consecutive games for the Cobbers and Caron started in 39.
In addition to Langemo and Sannes, seven other Cobbers earned Academic All-MIAC recognition:

Hinderaker ('98, Zumbrota), Scott Holthusen
('00, Wahpeton, ND), Chris Kallenbach ('00,
Fargo), Nels Paulson ('00, Cambridge), Aric
Rhen ('00, Clearbrook) and Robert Zacher
('99, Alexandria).
After winning MIAC titles 1995 and 1996 with veteran teams, head coach Jim Cella took a young menās soccer team and built them into another contender. The Cobbers finished 12-5 overall, went 7-3 in the MIAC to tie for second, and just missed a second consecutive invitation to the NCAA tournament.

Underclassmen Eric Singer ('00, Plymouth) and Josh Spaulding ('00, Minnetonka) earned first team All-MIAC honors.
Three Cobber sophomores earned Academic
All-MIAC honors:
Micah Benson ('00, Moorhead), Chad
Fancher ('00, Burnsville), and Will Manke
('00, Vienna, VA).
The Cobber volleyball team went 8-3 in the MIAC regular season, finished 3rd at the MIAC Tournament, and ended up one game away from advancing to the NCAA Tournament for a third consecutive year.

All-MIAC hitters Laura Reitmeier (ā99 Fisher) and Anne Larson (ā00 Fargo) led the Cobber attack, with help from 2nd team All-MIAC setter Nicole Vetter (ā00 West Fargo). Reitmeier also earned All-Region honors for the second consecutive year.

All-MIAC honors, including:

Flick ('99 West Fargo), Camille Graven
('99 Marshall) and Eva Ladenburger ('00 Mc

The Menās Golf team, under new head coach Mark Johnson, recorded 5 top-5 finishes in their six fall events, including a 2nd at the 20-team Erv Kaiser Invitational in Fargo and a 4th at the 21 team Twin cities Classic.
The Cobbers were led by 2-time All-MIAC performer Brandon Riddering (ā99, Maple Grove).

Second year head coach Sharon Espeland saw her Cobbers move from 12th to 10th in the MIAC. The Cobbers showed consistent improvement at each meet this year over last year.
