The Bethel Royals Hockey Program clearly has reason for optimism in the new millenium. Coming off the program's best record since the 1986-87 season in 98-99, the Royals return their top seven scorers from a year ago, along with three regulars on defense and last year's starting goalie. Bethel's 8-7-1 conference record earned them a share of sixth place in the final MIAC standings. The team's 17 points was just two points shy of earning a play-off bid by finishing in the top four in the league. Bethel was still in the play-off hunt with just two weeks remaining in last year's season.
